We’re recruiting again! We’re looking for another PHP Developer to join our team of front and back end developers. Vanilla Storm is a small web design company based in Heaton Chapel, which is just 10 mins by train from Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport. The role is varied and interesting with the opportunity to work on some high profile sites and learn new technologies.

The successful candidate will work on the following:

  • creating, documenting, maintaining, testing and debugging systems developed in PHP versions 4 and 5
  • building secure e-commerce sites using Vanilla Storm developed applications
  • development of HTML / XHTML and CSS websites, working to W3C and WCAG standards
    uploading websites and applications to the server
  • researching and building sites using existing software and building bespoke applications and modules as required
  • research and implementation of new technologies
  • Knowledge of Drupal and open source platforms would be an advantage.

Project Manager Vacancy

We are currently seeking a Project Manager to join our busy team. The role will involve managing projects on a day to day basis and liaising with clients and the development team to ensure that projects are delivered on time and to budget.

We’re looking for someone who is extremely organised and can manage a number of different projects and co-ordinate between the team and clients. An understanding of the processes used to create websites, online shops and other web applications would be an advantage.

The role will involve writing project specifications and testing website and online shops. Though some training will be given, applicants will be expected to have an understanding of websites and online shops from a user’s point of view.

Salary: £18K to £24K, depending on skills and experience

Our portfolio is expanding rapidly and we have a number of exciting projects lined up for the successful candidate. You will join a small team and work on a number of varied and interesting projects.

Website Developer / Project Assistant

Vanilla Storm is a rapidly growing web design company based in Heaton Chapel, South Manchester (just 8 mins train ride from Manchester Piccadilly). The company is currently seeking a Web Developer / Project Assistant to join their expanding team to support new and existing customers.

Duties will include:

  • Update and maintenance of existing clients’ websites.
  • Design and development of new websites to meet with W3C and WCAG standards.
  • Developing page mock-ups for client review.

- proven experience in developing e-commerce sites
- strong working knowledge of PHP, HTML and CSS, including developing bespoke PHP applications

We are currently looking for a temporary Project / Admin Assistant to assist the team over the next couple of months. This would be an ideal holiday job for a student looking to work within new media.

Duties will include:

- answering the telephone and dealing with customer queries
- filing
- greeting visitors
- corresponding via email and letter
- general research
- collating and organising client information
- general admin duties to assist the directors

Candidates must demonstrate the following:

- excellent written and oral communication skills
- good keyboard skills including using Word, Excel (basic) and email

- a basic knowledge of Photoshop (not essential – training can be given)

An interest in the internet would be an advantage.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00 to 5.30, with an hour for lunch.
